Membership | Leadership/Board of Governors

The affairs of the CMSA® are managed by a board of governors, selected from the general membership, which meets at least two times a year.  During the periods the board is not convened, the Executive Committee made up of the president, president-elect, vice president, secretary, treasurer, membership chair, administrative executive and council chairs has full authority to transact all CMSA® business.

Deborah McAneny

Ms. McAneny has overall management responsibility for John Hancock’s Real Estate Investment Group which includes investments for John Hancock and its clients in commercial mortgages, CMBS, equity real estate and tax credit investments in affordable housing..  Ms McAneny is also Senior Vice President of John Hancock Real Estate Finance, a wholly owned subsidiary of John Hancock’s.  John Hancock Real Estate Finance is a mortgage Banking Operation whose principle business is mortgage origination, securitization, and servicing.  Ms. McAneny holds a BS from the University of Vermont and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Joseph Franzetti

Mr. Franzetti is a Director at SalomonSmithBarney.  In this capacity he is responsible for the commercial mortgage conduit.  He supervises the origination and underwriting of mortgages on a variety of income producing property types.  Prior to his experience at SalomonSmithBarney he spent 16 years in the Rating Agency Industry at both Standard & Poor’s and Duff & Phelps.  Mr. Franzetti is a frequent speaker and author on the subject of commercial mortgage backed securities.  He is a member of the Commercial Real Estate/Multifamily Finance Board of Governors of the Mortgage Bankers Association.  He served as a co-chair on CMSA’s CMBS Collateral Subcommittee the past two years.

Margie A. Custis

Ms. Custis is currently a managing director for Principal Capital Management.  She shares responsibility for the CMBS investment activity of Principal with a CMBS portfolio under management in excess of $2.7 billion.  She is also part of the senior management team for Principal Commercial Funding, a subsidiary dedicated to originating loans for CMBS issuance.  Ms. Custis joined Principal in 1984 and served as a mortgage underwriter in several markets.  She has been active in the secondary market for commercial mortgages since 1992.  She served as chair of the membership committee this past year as well as co-chair of CMSA’s Sixth Annual Convention.

 


Secretary
Richard D. Jones

Mr. Jones is a co-chair of the Finance and Real Estate Practice Group at the international law firm of Dechert.  Mr. Jones focuses his practice on mortgage finance and the capital markets.  Mr. Jones is a regular author and speaker on a wide range of issues affecting the capital markets and mortgage finance.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, CMSA where he chairs its International Committee; a member of Mortgage Bankers Association of America and a host of other professional associations.  Mr. Jones is a graduate of Washington & Lee University where he received his BA in Economics in 1975, the University of Virginia where he received his JD, and Boston University where he received an L.L.M.

Kieran Quinn

Mr. Quinn is responsible for managing Column Financial’s seventeen regional offices and the correspondent network for the production of conduit, interim and small balance loans.  He’s a member of the Loan Committee and the Board of Directors.  Mr. Quinn, formerly with Equitable Real Estate, has responsibility for mortgage assets in New York, Philadelphia, Washington and Atlanta regions.  He served as CFO for a private development company in Atlanta for ten years and eight years of commercial and real estate lending at the First National Bank of Chicago.  He served as co-chair of the CMSA® Originators/Issuers Forum Last year.

Robert N. Jenkins

Mr. Jenkins was until recently vice president in charge of Real Estate Capital Markets at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.  Before joining MetLife in 1989, he worked for several real estate investment firms including Eastdil Realty and Trammell Crow Company.  Along with his contributions to CMSA, Mr. Jenkins is also a member of the Urban Land Institute.  In addition to being President of CMSA this past year he was also the co-chair for both the January 2000 and January 2001 CMBS Investors Conference.  Mr. Jenkins received his BA from Colorado College and his MBA from Columbia University

Dorothy R. Cunningham

Dottie has over 25 years of broad-based commercial real estate finance experience.  She was previously a managing director of loan production and commercial origination at CIGNA Investment Management in Bloomfield, CT.  Before joining CIGNA in 1990, she had previously worked at Prudential, Equitable Life and Chevy Chase Savings Bank.  In addition, Ms. Cunningham also has 15 years of trade association experience as a volunteer leader of the National Network of Commercial Real Estate Women (NNCREW).  She is a certified public accountant (CPA) and has been awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
